Estrogen’s Role In Uterine Fibroids



There will be uterine fibroids in woman regularly and it can be not a big issue for most of them. In case they grow too big it can cause lot of problems and it must be removed.

1. The sex hormone estrogen in woman will stimulate the expansion of a uterine lining which occurs in preparation for pregnancy. Fibroids have more estrogen receptors and it can do normal uterine muscle cells.

2. Estrogen is not one of the reasons behind the development of fibroids. Xenoestrogens are also expected to contribute to fibroid development.

3. In case the estrogen levels decline during menopause, the fibroid tumors can diminish. In case the estrogen imbalance occurs it can contribute to fibroid growth.
