Discussing controversial topics with a teenager can be difficult for any one and especially for the parents. It is important for the teenager to know these controversial subjects to act properly in these situations. Discussing these subjects can be awkward for parents and teenagers, but it is important to have a open and honest dialogue. Here are few ways to start discussing controversial topics with a teenager.

1. First make a decision when to talk about these subjects and introduce it to the teenager in an appropriate manner. In case the school district starts to teach about human sexuality in the sixth grade, you can also discuss this matter at home at the same time.

2. Help the teenager to discuss controversial subjects with you. This can be done by letting him know that you are there to discuss this at any time. Try to answer the questions honestly to prepare the teenager in taking the right decisions.
