Amenorrhea is also known as the absence of menstrual periods and it is of 2 types such as primary and secondary.
1. Provide the details about menstrual history to the doctor. Those who are at the age of 16 and have not experienced a menstrual period is known as a primary amenorrhea. For those who had regular menstrual periods during the past and now if they have not been menstruating is called as a secondary amenorrhea.
2. Consult a physical doctor to look for the signs of amenorrhea such as secretions from the breasts and extra facial hair. A pelvic examination can be down to see the problems with the reproductive organs related to amenorrhea.
3. The doctor may take a pregnancy test using a urine or blood. Most of the women who are pregnant will have amenorrhea and pregnancy test can help to understand your condition.
4. Amenorrhea can also occur due to hormone levels off balance and a blood test can be made to know the prolactin levels, estrogen levels and thyroid function.
