Causes Of Spotting Before Periods

There are many reasons for a spotting that occurs before a period. A spotting is a light bleeding that occurs outside of the normal menstrual periods. Most of the reasons are considered as normal or benign, a spotting is still is known as an abnormal bleeding which needs immediate treatment. Here are few reasons that cause a spotting before a period.
1. Ovulations are usually unnoticeable for most of the women and few people will experience light spotting for one or two days after ovulation. It is a type of spotting that occurs before the period which is a normal byproduct of ovulation for the women.
2. Spotting is a common side effect of a hormonal birth control options such as patch and implant, birth control pills, hormonal IUDS and birth control shot. It is a side effect that usually subsides after few months and some of them will also experience spotting after avoiding a particular hormonal birth control method.
3. Most of the women will have spotting during the first few months of normal pregnancy and spotting before an expected period can also be a sign of pregnancy. Spotting is also a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy which is a condition that can be life-threatening.
4. Experiencing spotting before an expected period can be a sign of an impending miscarriage. As you may not suspect you are pregnant till you miss a period and it is also possible to face a miscarriage that are related to spotting without realizing you have been pregnant.
5. Hormonal imbalances can also cause spotting other than caused by a pregnancy or birth control. Sometime, the body will be producing too much estrogen or less progesterone due to thyroid problem or while taking certain medications.
6. Spotting before a period can be a sign of an underlying condition including ovarian cysts or uterine cancer or cervical and uterine fibroids or polyps. In some of the most rare cases, these conditions may become serious and need immediate treatment.
7. In case of spotting between your periods, try to consult a doctor immediately for treatment. Sometime, spotting can be perfectly normal and it is important to rule out pregnancy. In case of heavy bleeding in between your period’s consulting a doctor is very important.
