UAE And Premature Menopause
Menopause is experienced by all the women and it eventually or drastically affects reproductive ability. There are few cases, where menopause occurs prematurely because of medical conditions and other procedures such as UAE or uterine artery embolization.
1. UAE or uterine artery embolization is a type of medical procedure that is used in the treatment of uterine fibroids. The main aim of using UAE is to decrease the arterial blood flow to the fibroids in the uterus which will make the fibroids to shrink. In case this medical procedure becomes a success it can help in many ways such as it will reduce the pain, there will be less frequent urination and also less uterine bleeding.
2. Menopause is on of the biological change that is normal in all the women when they are middle-aged. There will be lot of hormonal changes that cause a menopause in woman and it can also affect the reproductive ability.
3. UAE or uterine artery embolization helps in blocking the arteries to the uterus where the blood supply will be blocked to the ovaries. This can make the level of follicle stimulating hormone increase and cause depletion of the ovarian reserves as well as reduces the ovarian function. The reduction in the ovarian function can cause a premature menopause.
4. A premature menopause in case of uterine artery embolization is very common as it occurs in about 15 percent of this medical procedure. Most of the women who are near 40 years old may experience this as they are entering midlife and there will be subsequent menopausal risk. Those who are under 40 years of age also have the signs of depleted ovarian reserves.
5. The statistical chances of getting pregnant after uterine artery embolization decreases as the blood supply to the uterus are reduced. Most of the women who undergo uterine artery embolization are very unlikely to become pregnant and there are some cases of successful pregnancy after UAE also have been reported.
6. The signs of a premature menopause from uterine artery embolization include hysterectomy that is similar to a regular menopause. Other signs also include insomnia, hot flashes, mood swings and decreased sex drive. The most important difference of premature menopause is the symptoms will be have more severity as the hormones decrease gradually during a natural menopause and there will be a rapid decrease in induced premature menopause.
