Ways To Prevent Rebound Hypertension



There are many ways that can be followed to avoid hypertension and high blood pressure. While facing hypertension there is a possibility of rebound hypertension due to sudden withdrawal of few medications.

1. Go to a doctor if you think discontinuing anti-hypertensive medication due to side effect or in case of surgery that needs to discontinue the blood pressure medication.

2. The physician can provide general instructions to withdraw the anti-hypertensive medication and also read as well as absorb the instructions given by physician so it doesn’t cause rebound hypertension.

3. The anti-hypertensive medication must be stopped after a period of 1-3 weeks and if other medications are taken the doctor can inform about interactions and other side effects of withdrawal.

4. After the successful withdrawal of medication, try to create a follow-up appointment with the doctor to make sure that you are not having any rebound hypertension.
