Dealing With Dermatitis

Dermatitis is a chronic skin condition which causes inflammation of the skin which may result in itching and a swollen skin. Dermatitis occurs in different forms and the most usual is the seborrheic dermatitis and the most severe is known as atopic dermatitis. Dermatitis may occur for different reasons and one of the most common forms allergic dermatitis and contact dermatitis.
1. First go to a doctor if you experience any itchy rash as it may be due to an allergic reaction. The doctor may try to isolate the reason that caused the dermatitis, which is an important remedy for the skin condition. Try to consult a doctor who is specialist in allergic dermatitis to get sooner result.
2. Then look at the extent of the problem which include the location of the rash and also consider using new products, detergents, soaps, fabrics or plants to get rid of this problem. The rash can be treated easily if it is limited to a small area.
3. Try fragrance-free laundry soap and also stop using fabric softener, like dryer sheets to reduce your skin irritation. This can be followed as a treatment for treating dermatitis in all these chemicals that are responsible for the rash.
4. Avoid using soap and try to use colloidal oatmeal for bathing which can help in treating dermatitis itching and also work as a natural cleanser. Some of the people with this problem may be benefited from a ten-minute soak in a colloidal oatmeal bath.
5. Apply a ice pack on the affected area for few minutes and make sure to avoid freezing the area as it may cause further irritation. Cold can applied on the affected area when alternated with any other dermatitis treatments.
6. Use a skin calming lotion that is recommended by a dermatologist when the blisters begin to dry. Scratching as well as using medicated creams may make the skin to dry and it also produce cracking and bleeding.
7. Try to follow any home remedies for treating dermatitis itching as well as pain. You can mix equal amount of vinegar and water to apply it over the affected area.
8. The best treatment for dermatitis is not to scratch the affected area. Scratching or rubbing hard continuously on the affected area can worsen the problem and also cause a permanent damage to the skin.
