How to Do the Edwardian Elegance Hairstyle
What you need
- Hair pins
Hair Type
- Long
- Straight, Wavy, Curly
If your hair curls naturally, it is a shame to bundle it all up on top of your head and hide it. This is a good way of wearing your hair up without obscuring the curls. This lovely look suits all ages and face shapes and is a great way to soften a severe shirt collar and cravat or compliment a frilly neckline and a cameo pin.
It is also suitable for straight hair, although it isn’t possible to achieve the wispy curls at the front. Instead, keep the front very smooth and have a couple of larger ‘sausage’ type curls on the forehead.
Your hair needs to be long enough to make the topknot; hair which is only a couple of inches below the shoulders is really too short to make a good-sized knot so high on the head, as the style needs the loose effect at the front.
1. Gather your hair into a ponytail and bring it up to crown. Hold the ponytail with one hand. Wrap the end of it around the other.
2. Pull the hair through as if knotting.
3. When hair is pulled right through, tuck the ends into the middle and secure with pins.
