Making Your Own Tulle Skirt

Tulle skirts can be created by knotting tulle around the elastic band and elaborating it for aesthetics. While creating a tulle skirt there are few things that must be considered to make it look perfect. The fabric which floats away from your body must be cut with an extra allowance to avoid it to look short on the leg. Here are few ways that can help in creating a perfect Tulle Skirt.
1. First measure your waist with the help of a measuring tape. Make sure to reduce three inches from the measurement and then cut the elastic with this measurement.
2. Draw both the ends of the elastic together and make sure that the elastic circles. Then sew both ends of the elastic together with the help of a zig zag stitch.
3. Next measure your waist to the spot on the leg where you would like the bottom of the skirt to fall. Multiply your measurement by 2 and make sure you have made the measurement generously. You can also cut off more of the tulle and in case you cut it too short during the first time, you have to remake the entire skirt from the beginning.
4. Then place the tulle in a double layer on a cutting mat and keep the measuring tape above the tulle. You must keep bottom of the tape with the bottom edge of the tulle to measure the tulle. Start cutting the tulle with the rotary cutter twice the length the measured leg. Continue to cut the tulle to make a full skirt.
5. Keep a low table in front and sit on the chair. Then slip the elastic band on your leg and take it till the thigh to encircle it as a garter would. Keep the foot on the table comfortably in such way that the elastic can be reached easily with your hands.
6. Use a double-layered length of the tulle under elastic and then pull it to divide the elastic in half. The length of tulle on the elastic must be the length that you have measured.
7. Then tie tulle around the elastic and adjust it close to the bottom edge of the elastic. Continue the knotting process till you have knotted the tulle around the entire elastic band.
8. Keep the satin ribbon on the elastic and adjust the ribbon to keep the ends even. Next pin the ribbon and sew it to elastic. Then tie the ends in a bow and trim bottom edges of the ribbon.
