Late-Term Abortion and its details

A late-term abortion is an abortion that is done at a later stage of pregnancy. Most of the time, it is considered as the abortion that takes place during the third-trimester.

1. The late-term abortions are of 3 kinds such as dilation and evacuation which includes removal of the contents of uterus and secondly early induction of labor and the intact dilation and finally evacuation or the partial-birth abortion.

2. As per few doctors, to make a late-term abortion one must find the process from their clinics and first attend counseling as it has support from National Abortion Federation.

3. As per an Institute, late-term abortions is very rarely done in the countries like US and around 1% of abortions that have been done during the third trimester in the country.

4. Usually the process of deciding when it is a late-term abortion is relies on the capability of the fetus. But it has not been defined properly by any law and few describe these abortions from 12 weeks of gestation to 23 weeks.
